Fortunate Son

Fortunate Son
Old Hickory is in the spotlight with the second installment of this three-part series examining the role of the Hermitage--and President Jackson--in our local community. A controversial figure, Jackson is seen as a one of our greatest leaders by some and as a brutal killer of American Indians by others. This exhibit--focused on Lyncoya, the Creek Indian boy that Jackson adopted--adds even more contradictory layers to the President's complex legacy. Including video, photographs and installation art by Amelia Winger-Bearskin and Carlin Wing, this opening reception will feature storytelling performances by Charlene Winger-Bearskin.
Wednesdays-Sundays. Starts: May 9. Continues through July 5, 2009
