Let’s all take a moment and think about words that come to mind when thinking about dubstep. If one or more of those words included glitter, frat star, molly, or “OMFG I love Skrillex!” then you are probably thinking of one of the more popular genres currently gripping subculture by the throat. Yet contrary to popular belief, not all these threads (sans molly) are woven into the dubstep blanket. Dating a couple decades back to the ’90s U.K. grime scene, dubstep branched from this dance-infused rap into an entirely new and original genre. Fast-forward 10 years later, and Caspa has emerged as one of the scene's underground forces, helping to trigger dubstep’s rise to recognition. Although most notably known for his remixes and participation in the FabricLive Mix Series, Caspa’s roots dig far deeper into the scene. His music is right at the chronological sweet spot of a genre that has yet to make the jump into contrived mainstream, and tonight's show will be time well spent for any electronic music fan.
