Adorably shy, uneasily repressed and radiant with unruly hormones, Sissy Spacek's Carrie White is anyone's idea of a hot prom date. It's just icing on the cake that she can roast jackass classmates with her telekinetic mojo. With Spacek as his Falconetti, Brian De Palma turns Stephen King's career-launching shocker into a teenage Passion of Joan of Arc, empathetic to the point of squirming agony with its heroine's pubescent suffering--and equally exultant in her gym-incinerating vengeance. Dress in prom finery and get your picture taken under the "Belcourt High School" sign, and knock back a few punch cups full of $4 "Bloody Carrie" drink specials.
