Carol Williams

When: Fri., Oct. 14, 7:30 p.m. 2011
If you’re one of those people who think of classical organ as monotonous or stale, Carol Williams can cure you of that misconception. She’s served as San Diego’s civic organist for 10 years — a pretty big deal, considering she’s about the only civic organist left in the country — and she’s been Yale’s chapel organist, as well as a Fellow of the Royal College of Organists. Williams performs music in a wide variety of styles, from the ferocity of Wagner’s “Der ritt der Walkuren” to the ragtime rhythms of Scott Joplin’s “The Entertainer” — or even the theme to The Empire Strikes Back. Come hear for yourself why she’s earned the moniker “rebel with a pipe organ.”
