Cameron McGill and What Army w/Miles Nielsen & Builders and Butchers

When: Sat., April 16, 9 p.m. 2011
Price: $7
If you like to categorize things, Cameron McGill will probably drive you insane. He’s released five albums that sound nothing like each other, and his music defies any kind of label, which is probably why he isn’t on one. Often compared to Wilco, Spoon or The Shins — likely due to his intense, intricately crafted tunes that mesh melodic rock, wistful Americana and shimmering pop — McGill’s music is as easy on the ears as it is challenging. As for the live show, it’s always a tight ship that McGill steers — a result of relentless touring. The Chicago-based artist built a following in Nashville through regular shows at The Basement and with his other gig as a member of Margot and the Nuclear So and So’s. Touring in support of their latest album, Is A Beast, McGill and the Army will close out Record Store Day celebrations at The Basement / Grimey’s.
