Cabaret Macabre Closing Reception

When: Sun., Dec. 16, 6-9 p.m. 2012
Tattoo artist and painter Matt Wolf has recently taken the reins of the Blackbird Tattoo and Gallery’s art spaces, deciding that the first order of business should be a closing bash for the gallery’s latest two-artist exhibition Cabaret Macabre. Ash Sivils’ mixed-media pieces combine sex and surrealism in scenes that are part Giger and part Dali, while always maintaining a femininity that regards the bizarre, bared beauties with something more like kinky celebration than creepy objectification. Jerome Epstein’s trash art sculptures bring strange creatures to life, which pairs very weirdly with Sivils’ work. This closing reception offers one final chance to see the show, and it might be your last opportunity to find the perfect gift for your super-weird brother or bizarre work colleague.
