Buddy Greene w/Ron Block, Byron House & Jeff Taylor

When: Sat., March 12, 9 p.m. 2011
Price: $15
Though, in theory, they might take to the road someday, this is the kind of lineup that makes one thankful to be living in Nashville. Four exceedingly — one might almost say excessively — busy musicians team up to run through what’s bound to be a broad swath of bluegrass, blues, folk and gospel music, with every rendition guaranteed to be informed not only by the deep understanding each individual has of these traditions, but by a complex web of personal and musical associations among the quartet. Block’s a world-class banjo player who’s also an underrated guitarist; House is a hoss cat on the bass who’s lately been touring with Robert Plant; Taylor is a master of keyboards (and yes, friends, that includes the accordion) who’s played with everyone; and Greene is a pedigreed top dog on the harmonica, among other axes — and there’s some good singing in there too. In case it’s needed.
