Restaurant Details

The premise of this chain restaurant is southern Italian food in mammoth portions, served family-style in a frenetically festive atmosphere. The portions are so mammoth, in fact, that it’s a good idea to bring a large party. Though lacking in creativity, Buca Di Beppo differs from most chain eateries in that it packs plenty of flavor in its dishes (along with fat and cheese). It’s hearty, comforting Italian family fare: The tomato sauce is very nicely seasoned, thick, tomatoey and not too sweet, and the eight different pizzas all come on a hand-pulled, very thin, oblong crust. Vegetarians who opt for the rich and creamy eggplant parmigiana will have a hard time beating off the carnivores. A warning: Though menu items seem reasonably priced, the tally can easily creep up if you don’t resist the temptation to try several things. Reservations are suggested.
