Bryant Gallery All-Stars Show

When: May 12-June 30 2012
All of my Gemini friends and I have been enjoying our June birthday celebrations, and tonight we’re joined by two local galleries who are also marking milestones. One is a longtime fixture on the local art scene — the other is just now cutting its teeth. Local Color Gallery opened its doors in 1990. With an emphasis on Tennessee art, the gallery currently represents 40 artists in a variety of media. To celebrate their anniversary, the gallery has been throwing a two-month exhibition that features the impressionistic landscapes and still lifes of gallery artists Brenda Hasty and Sandee Sander. Bryant Gallery is also celebrating from May through June, but at just a year old, they’re only a kid. Still, the gallery’s first birthday is an important one for the East Nashville venue, and they’ve pulled together a show to put their best on display for the occasion. The show’s roster speaks to the space’s hard work over the past year, as well as to the enthusiasm that these artists clearly have for the community on the other side of the river. The exhibition includes work by Andee Rudloff, Hunt Adams, John Reed, Ruth Zelanski, Stacey Irvin, gallery owner Bill Brimm and many more. As Bruce Springsteen sings, “From small things, big things one day come.”
