Broke Wrap Party feat. Will Gray & more
Will Gray’s spent the past few years asking a question that just about every guitar-toting dreamer out there would love an answer to: Can a new act be “broken?” He’s been compiling what a ton of musicians and industry types have to say on the subject and offering up his own budding career as a test case for a documentary titled Broke. It’s fitting that he’d be out there stirring that conversation. Gray’s a smart, driven Los Angeles-based singer-songwriter who’s been recording with T-Bone Burnett and has a musical approach that’s as fresh as it is (potentially) broadly appealing: nimble hip-hop and urban pop framed in American folk textures. Which means he hits the stage with a banjo player and a guitarist alongside a DJ. Joining Gray for this show — which will complete the filming of Broke — are Ruby Amanfu from Sam & Ruby, Gretel’s Reva Williams, Zach Casebolt, Jesse Hale of Futureman’s Black Mozart Ensemble and others.
