Vanderbilt’s Space 204 has been a consistently interesting place for art exhibitions, hovering right over the line between a university’s art program and a public gallery space. For this year’s final exhibition, artists Mara Sprafkin and Justin Farris Braun are going to be mounting two very different installations. Brooklyn-based artist Sprafkin’s installation, She Would Have Thought Twice, Possibly Three Times, includes more than 1,600 prints and drawings, large and small. Sprafkin incorporates femininity in her work, with references to scrapbooking, fashion magazines and romance novels. Justin Farris Braun — whose installation at COOP was a polarizing hit earlier this summer — presents his large-scale work they see themselves from the inside. In it, Braun contrasts drawings and backlit photographs with a larger installation of “entangled systems.”
