Its been a hot minute since weve seen Justin Kase on the regular, what with the evaporation of Bar 23 and the subsequent exit of the Alley Cat right before he kicked off a residency there. The time has been good though, as evidenced by his recent opening slot for Treasure Fingers: His sound has expanded beyond the blog-house and electro hes known for into a sound that the Brits might call funky house, a blend of poly-rythms, dub-style bass and filter disco swoosh. His new home at 12th & Porter is a great fit, too. Weve always thought the new robo-light rig was a bit ostentatious for anonymous local bands, but the whole shiny-shiny flashy-flashy thing works great for the ol boom-chick-boom-chick.
