Boiler Room's Clue the Musical at The Factory at Franklin

In the Library, With the Candlestick
Mrs. Peacock? Mr. Green? Miss Scarlet? Colonel Mustard? Familiar names all in the history of board games. But if it seems a fair guess that Clue probably has trouble competing in the age of Xbox and Wii, its characters found new life off-Broadway in 1997 with the debut of this musical version, written by Peter DePietro (book), Tom Chiodo (lyrics) and Galen Blum, Wayne Barker and Vinnie Martucci (composers). It’s a very interactive affair, so Boiler Room Theatre audiences should revel in their involvement in the play’s mystery set-up and final determination of who did what where and to whom. Somehow the songs fit into whichever nightly scenario gets concocted, and that should help keep things interesting. The 1985 film based on Clue received mixed reviews and was ultimately considered a bit of a bomb, save for cultists. This stage adaptation stands a much better chance for broader success. The new mounting is directed by Corbin Green, and features experienced performers including Dan McGeachy, Laura Thomas Sonn, Sondra Morton, Will Sevier and Nancy Whitehead, among others.
Tuesdays, Thursdays-Saturdays, 8 p.m. Starts: Oct. 9. Continues through Nov. 7, 2009
