For those who make it to rock clubs a lot more often than Haflas (i.e. Middle Eastern dance parties), Bodhicitta shows are just the thing. The five-member, tribal-style bellydance troupe performed at 12th and Porter with Katie Herzig a couple months back. Now they're bringing their show to the Exit/In with an even bigger lineup: Butterfly Boucher, Tommy and the Whale and Gabrielle Saliba. For anyone whose idea of bellydancing is mostly informed by Disney's Aladdin, Bodhicitta will surprise in a big way. Not that the group--led by Gwyn Lister, who's married to Jeremy Lister--is extremely traditional. Their musical selections are eclectic (it's just as likely to be skittery electronica or a Herzig song as Middle Eastern drumming); their choreography is darkly hypnotic and draws on a variety of influences; and their lavish, one-of-a-kind nouveau-gypsy costuming is self-designed. Be assured, there's nothing else quite like it in Nashville.
