There may be just one act on tonight’s bill, but there’s enough variety in a Dailey & Vincent show that the duo and their ace band could provide a credible alternative to an entire festival lineup all by themselves. There’s the classic country crowd-pleasing Statler Brothers tribute work (complete with robust bass singer Christian Davis); the brother-duet throwbacks that feature just the principals with two guitars or guitar and mandolin; the polished nods to Southern gospel harmonies; a hefty dose of comedy that ranges from broad mugging and well-rehearsed set pieces to easy-to-miss impromptu asides. Still, thanks in part to masterful sidemen Jeff Parker (who has a hot new nothing-but-grass album of his own just out), Jessie Baker and B. J. Cherryholmes, and in part to the frontmen’s core sensibilities, it’s all leavened by some of the best straightforward bluegrass to be heard anywhere.
