Due to all his mega-event organizing and journalistic shenanigans, it's easy to forget that local rock luminary Jason Moon Wilkins is actually, first and foremost, a musician. You remember his band Toybean, dontcha? Remind me to show you my copy of their debut 7-inch next time were hanging out; its rad. But that was then, and now JMWs got an album under the nome de plume Blue Eyed Blacks coming out on Austin's ever-reliable Chicken Ranch Records. It's a strong set of dreamy, swirling pop chock full of top-notch guests like Garrison Starr and Justin Townes Earl that makes for the perfect come-down after a long night (or career?) spent bouncing around loud rock clubssomething I can appreciate with every fiber of my being.
