Blogworthy at Cafe Coco

This monthly new music showcase at Café Coco—curated by DJ/Producer Quiet Entertainer—is one of the prime spots to find new, freshly hatched local talent. Some months things swing more hip-hop, some months are more electronic and some swing more indie, but all the artists QE deems “Blogworthy” are worthy of winding up the ol' MP3-trola. This month's installment features Mandi Jewell (who lists, uh, Jewel as her first influence) and Jennings, who's gunning straight for the Grey's Anatomy gravy train. Bethany Gray and the Get Togethers has a lo-fi ramshackle vibe that recalls the adorable amateurishness of ’90s indie imprint Shrimper Records. And they even tricked me into listening to singer-songwriters, which is blog-worthy in and of itself.
