Blair String Quartet Perform Sirota's Triptych

In chamber music, rapport between players is the name of the game, which is why the interplay among Nashville’s Blair String Quartet is always such a delight. These folks know each other very well—the new guy, cellist Felix Wang, joined the nationally acclaimed group almost a decade ago now, and the other members have been playing together since the mid-’80s. The Quartet will perform Robert Sirota’s 2002 Triptych, composed in tandem with a set of paintings by Deborah Patterson to commemorate victims of 9/11. The program also includes Haydn’s lively “Frog” Quartet in D, “Op. 50 No. 6” and Dvořák's “American” Quartet in F, written while the composer vacationed in an Iowa Czech settlement in the summer of 1893.
Fri., Nov. 7, 8 p.m., 2008
