It took Pixar 26 years to make a movie with a female lead, and somehow people still give even a fraction of a fuck what Adam Carolla says about anything, including how funny or unfunny women are. So, as ever, sisters are doing it for themselves, and in that spirit, Bitchfest was born. Tonight kicks off this year’s installment of the three-day mini-festival. The fest packs plenty of punch with a solid rock-leaning roster ranging from Saturday night Exit/In headliners White Mystery, a Chicago-based sister-brother psych-stomp duo, to locals Thelma and the Sleaze, whose Lauren Gilbert started Bitchfest last year on private property outside Ashland City, to the delightfully obscene YouTube outlaws Birdcloud. Tonight’s slate at The End — preceded by a 6 p.m. “Cakebike” party at Dragon Park — features the fuzz-poppy How Cozy!, the power-glammy Fancytramp and the new-to-us but best-named Slutever, with Dirty Dee and the Sweaty Meat rounding out the bill. Sunday’s party includes an afternoon picnic and T-shirt printing session (BYOT to DIY) followed by more rock action at Springwater courtesy of Crybaby, I Am Sabot and Lurancy Vennum.
