Billy Contreras to Popular Belief
Yes, there have been some legendary fiddle players here in Music City, but none deserves the title more than Buddy Spicher. His studio and touring credits go back to the 1950s, and hes played with anyone you could name. When youve done that much for that long, you get to do pretty much whatever you want, and one of the things Spichers done for the past year or so is team up with young fiddle phenom Billy Contreras for some hot string jazz in the Frist Centers Music in the Grand Lobby series. Contreras sticks mostly to guitar for these outings hes pretty dang hot on that, too and the lineups rounded out by Darrell Johnson and Jeff Henderson on bass and drums for a classic quartet approach. It goes without saying that these guys can swing up a storm, and where else are you going to get this close to a legend?
