East Nashville's latest entry into the local arts scene, Billups Art--located behind the old Alley Cat in the alley of Woodland--will serve as a combo art space/music venue, hosting concerts, monthly art fairs and other events. To solidify the gallery's mission to bring together these two creative threads, Billups is inviting everyone to help paint a mural on the building: a loose rendition of Georgia O'Keeffe's "Radiator Building--Night, New York," substituting the "Batman" building for the titular edifice, and including local art- and music-inspired images as well. The band Luke, featuring Mando Saenz and Jacob Thomas, will perform later in the evening. A portion of proceeds from all Billups events will benefit Lockeland Design Center and East CAN.
