Bill Callahan at Grimey's

Smog Day Afternoon

Smog Day Afternoon
Whether under his former Smog moniker or reverting back to his given name, avant folkie Bill Callahan has always insisted on a low profile. Now, with the release of his 14th full-length Sometimes I Wish We Were an Eagle, Callahan has embarked on a free-for-all tour, limiting himself to only in-store performances at vinyl vendors across the country for the duration of April, in honor of the upcoming annual Record Store Day. This being the first such stop (and his only one in Nashville), Grimey’s patrons will actually have a three-day sneak peak of Sometimes. With such minimal fanfare, the occasion should capture Callahan at his most poignant—alone, unrelentingly vulnerable and yet confidently nimble.
