"Beyond the Wall of Sleep" at The Belcourt

Sweet Dreams

Sweet Dreams
Members of Murfreesboro’s long-running punk band Dr. Gonzo pooled their talents for this horror film adapted from H.P. Lovecraft’s 1919 short story, in which a criminally insane killer—a “typical denizen of the Catskill Mountain region, who corresponds exactly with the ‘white trash’ of the South"—may be a portal for mysterious beings from another dimension. Shot in Middle Tennessee last spring (and not to be confused with a notorious horror feature shot here several years ago that caused lots of hard feelings), the film features a cameo by Troma Entertainment kingpin Lloyd Kaufman; it makes its local premiere tonight on a bill with shorts by other local filmmakers, including one of our favorites, Michael Carter.
