Six Feet of Dirt

Six Feet of Dirt
As far as the whole metalcore thing goes, one could do much worse than Between the Buried and Me. In a genre ruled by single-chord, chug-a-lug breakdowns and a pseudo-hardcore ethos, dismissing these bands comes pretty naturally. Plus the young ‘uns like this stuff, and you know how kids will always be wrong and never be as metal or punk or hardcore as we were when we were kids. But in a genre that’s a bit like Little League, Between the Buried and Me are the kids who learned to throw a curve ball. For instance, while the sentence fragment band name is par for the course, it’s lifted from a Counting Crows song. And while there will be no shortage of circle-pit enthusiasts at this show, BTBAM will test their patience with some progged-out Dream Theatre-influenced excursions.
