Being an art student in Nashville can be rough. If you aren't out there putting on your own guerilla art shows, it's difficult to launch yourself or (more importantly) your work into the gallery scene. So kudos to the Frist for recognizing, and validating, the young talent emerging from local art departments. The Future/Now exhibit, which featured artists from nine different colleges working in a variety of media, not only gave great exposure to the students but also pointed Nashville's art scene in a promisingly contemporary direction. —AMANDA DILLINGHAM
