Best Reason to Fight About the Cost of Noodles

Otaku South

Writers Choice

Readers of the Scene’s food blog, Bites, may remember a particularly contentious comment thread in which some folks questioned whether Sarah Gavigan’s ramen — or any ramen, for that matter — could be worth $13 a bowl. As it turned out, none of the naysayers had been to any of Gavigan’s Otaku South ramen pop-ups, which have been some of the most fun and well-attended food events of the last year. People who have tried her noodles are nearly unanimous in praise. Fortunately for them, Gavigan is now serving Wednesday evenings at the Nashville Farmers’ Market’s Grow Local Kitchen and Thursday evenings at Sloco, in addition to her other pop-ups. Here’s hoping a full-time storefront is in the works.
