Best Original Theater Performed by Children

The Theater Bug

Writers Choice

Founded “to inspire young people to create community and build confidence” and to offer “educational experiences in the performing arts,” actress and teacher Cori Anne Laemmel’s East Nashville startup The Theater Bug has motivated a wide range of young people ages 5-20 to participate. Laemmel’s ambitions also included transforming a nondescript Gallatin Pike storefront into a charming and functional performance venue, where her young actors take on challenging original scripts with music, the subject matter in 2013 covering topics such as peer pressure and bullying (Showmance) and even serious illness (The Barefoot Children in the City of Ward).
