Best Only-in-Nashville Performance

Rosanne Cash and Rodney Crowell at The Stone Fox

Writers Choice

The best Nashville episode ever transpired at a Planned Parenthood benefit in January, where Cash and Crowell performed a set full of the can’t-be-faked chemistry available only to people who’ve shared a lifetime. Few things are more Nashville than the small-town weirdness of inevitably performing with your ex before people who know your history. That said, the heart-stopping instant when Cash and Crowell locked eyes while singing her late father’s “I Still Miss Someone” — which drew an audible gasp, for any number of reasons — made residents feel like the most privileged sons-of-guns on earth.
