Cynthia Tucker and Darius Willis

Tucker took on some edgy roles in two Actors Bridge Ensemble productions, A Bright Room Called Day and Marisol, and she exhibited strong stage presence and a natural gift for pushing the limits of character work. As for Willis, he made an excellent first impression in the Sista Style production of The Desire in the fall of '07. Since then, he's added strong turns in productions of Ma Rainey's Black Bottom and Mary McCallum's original script The 70% Club, and wherever he shows up, his raw but energetic talent simply commands a stage. —MARTIN BRADY
