Nashville Public Library

Hidden in plain sight on the downtown library's shelves is a movie nut's dream: a treasure trove of DVD/VHS rarities ranging from William Greaves' fascinating documentary experiment Symbiopsychotaxiplasm: Take One to the exploits of Mexican Z-movie wrestling hero Santos, all ready for checkout. Thank the broad tastes of the library's Popular Materials department, which typically hosts free "Movies @ Main" screenings of its holdings the first Thursday of each month on its crisp DVD projection system. The library steps up its game this month with weekly showings of cult horror films such as Mario Bava's atmospheric witchcraft shocker Black Sunday and Richard Blackburn's little-seen vampire fantasy Lemora, accompanied by exclusive audio and video interviews with filmmakers and scholars. —JIM RIDLEY
