Best Fake Newsflash

Melee in the Gulch

Writers' Choice

Oh Nashville, how we have come to tolerate thee, even when you’re gumming up traffic for your location shoots and detonating stunt explosives in our neighborhoods at night. But your most unexpected gift came in the form of a fake newsflash, filmed just blocks from Scene headquarters, in which droves of screaming teens fled Two Old Hippies in panic after a shelf fell and cracked country queen Rayna Jaymes’ daughter Maddie on the melon — the sensational tagline “MELEE IN THE GULCH” flashing garishly across the screen. Weird, because that’s what we always say when The Turnip Truck runs out of hummus!
