Nashville Symphony Plays Edgar Meyer

Writers Choice

Tumultuous applause greeted hometown hero Edgar Meyer when he walked onstage at a Nashville Symphony concert last season to play his new Double Concerto for Violin, Double-Bass and Orchestra. Violinist Joshua Bell played his demanding part with an appropriate mix of melting lyricism and fleet-fingered virtuosity. The composer played his own rhythmically complex part with precision and unfailing sensitivity, proving once again that he is truly the Paganini of the double bass.
