Last month, when word spread that James DaSilva had been shot in the neck outside the Family Wash during an attempted carjacking, his friends understandably feared the worst. Fortunately for DaSilva — a gifted young guitarist who’s quickly making a name for himself in Nashville’s jazz world — the bullet just missed his spine, he suffered no long-term damage, and he’s already back to gigging. Furthermore, as the good-natured musician put it on his Facebook page, “The neck brace is a total chick magnet.” To celebrate his quick recovery — and help pay the medical expenses — DaSilva’s friends in Latin jazz band El Movimiento and New Orleans-style brass band Half-Brass will rock the Wash.
