Ben Bailey

Rest in peace, Don LaFontaine. Now that the legendary movie trailer announcer guy has passed on to the big cinema in the sky, that leaves Bailey, the LaFontaine of Comedy as...er, no one calls him, to assume the title of Best Baritone in Show Business. Like LaFontaine, Bailey's mellifluous tones are deep, expressive and wholly unique. But unlike the stoically serious voiceover artist, Bailey's got a wicked-sarcastic sense of humor. Throw in a lantern jaw that slackens in bewilderment and a cocked eyebrow or two and you've got one of the most expressive observationists working today. With timing, flow and bravado to spare, the Daytime Emmy nominee and host of the greatest game show ever set in a moving vehicle (that'd be the Discovery Channel's Cash Cab) Bailey recreates the most awkward of day-to-day subplots, and you won't even need to shell out another $10 for an overblown, the-preview-made-it-look-way-better version later.
