Beatles vs. Stones at The Basement

Sympathy for the Eggman

Sympathy for the Eggman
Mike Grimes of The Basement assures us that “it’s just called ‘Beatles versus Stones.’ We’re not going to pick a winner or anything.” That’s probably for the best; rock ’n’ roll’s longstanding ideological rift between wholesome melody and bluesy authenticity isn’t going to be resolved at this late date. Instead, this annual charity bowl will favor compromise, giving retro-rock fans a chance to hear a couple cover tunes each by The Privates, Modoc, My Tyger, Judd and Maggie, Thomas Jamas, Will Holland, Reno Bo, The Shazam, Oblio, Tommy Hans from Tommy and the Whale and more. Suggested donations at the door will benefit the Second Harvest Food Bank. Sounds like a great night, with only one thing missing: The Who. For that, we’ll have to wait for next year’s charity bowl.
