Artist and songwriter Marty Stuart joins his mother, Hilda, for the release of her photographic book
Choctaw Gardens. The elder Stuart, who has cultivated her passion for photography since the age of 16, collected 70 years of family photographs for Gardens, chronicling everything from backyard gatherings in Mississippi to landmark moments in Marty’s career. A selection of these images — which have been likened to the work of Eudora Welty and William Eggleston — were first publicly displayed at the Center for Documentary Studies at Duke University in early 2011. Both Marty and Hilda Stuart will lead a discussion about Gardens, followed by a book signing.
