Without a doubt, Artrageous is the most fabulous event of the year for Nashville art. People volunteer for the evening just to catch a glimpse of the action — it’s that much fun. Everyone gets dolled up in their fanciest attire for a whirlwind tour of seven packed galleries that ends up at the War Memorial for a dance party lasting until the wee hours. The revelry celebrates rather than conceals the evening’s more somber cause. Proceeds help fund Nashville CARES for HIV/AIDS prevention and support services. This year’s theme — “Gems and Jewels” — centers around the idea of transformation. It’s a blingin’ emblem for a lofty idea, and it encapsulates the hope and humor that have made this 23-year-old tradition a success. Participating galleries include The Arts Company, Rymer Gallery and LeQuire, among others.
