During his tenure as Assistant Curator at the Vanderbilt Fine Arts Gallery, Joseph Whitt made waves, turning what could've been a lame-duck run for the soon-to-be-replaced Old Gym into a series of three of the best contemporary art shows of last year's season. Whitt--who is now Director of Programming for the Starr Space performance venue in Brooklyn--may be done with Nashville, but Nashville, it seems, is not done with him. In this latest installment of the Frist Center's Artist's Forum series, Whitt will discuss his own art for a change, shedding light on his Serenades project: a series of art trades with his creative heroes that finds diverse contemporary artists agreeing to participate for the price of a song.
