Although a large exhibit of Georgia O'Keeffe's paintings would be something to get excited about, Georgia O'Keeffe and Her Times is more than that. With a few weeks left in its run at the Frist, this show puts the painter in context with her peers, building a captivating profile of the artist's life and times by including paintings and photographs by contemporaries like Charles Sheeler, Arthur G. Dove, Stuart Davis, Marsden Hartley, Ansel Adams and other masters of American Modernism. Divided into three distinct themes, the show examines the role of nature and the influence of Expressionism in the work of O'Keefe and her fellow artists. It also focuses on how these artist's visions defined modern America. Anne Taylor, curator of interpretation, will be tonight's speaker. There is also a cash bar. Gallery admission is required.
