Art and Opera: From Monarchy to Modernity

When: Thu., Sept. 23, 7 p.m. 2010
Price: free
fristcenter.org
Art and opera will join forces tonight in an exploration of the impact of The French Revolution on the social and political landscapes of France during the late 18th century. If you've ever asked how these events led to the creative breakthroughs of the Impressionists, this is the show for you. The evening includes a sneak peek at the Frist's upcoming exhibit The Birth of Impressionism: Masterpieces from the Musee d'Orsay, international opera performers singing selections from Nashville Opera’s Andrea Chénier and a reception with food provided by Chef's Market. Oh yeah, and it’s free! Reservations are strongly suggested. Go to nashvilleopera.org/Calendar.html for more details.
