Tonight offers the rare chance to see a diverse array of work by nationally recognized artists. Art After Hours, that first-Thursday mainstay on our calendars, will delight audiences with one of the strongest showings we’ve seen in months. Begin your tour with the Hillsboro Village Art Walk: This week, kiddos are the stars of the evening, and Saint Bernard’s Academy has been busy making some very sophisticated work. Students in first through fifth grades have riffed on Picasso, Klee and Lichtenstein, and have made mixed-media creations inspired by pop art, comics and cubism. For more grown-up art, Zeitgeist introduces you to Alicia Henry and Gloria Holwerda-Williams. Henry, a former Guggenheim fellow, has an MFA from Yale and a lot to say — be sure to check out her newest work in Fragile. Next, head to Cumberland Gallery in Green Hills for the opening of Papier, a collection of works on paper by some of Nashville’s finest. Kit Reuther, Marilyn Murphy and Mark Hosford are among the evening’s highlights.
