Anniversary Artist Lecture Series feat. Miwon Kwon

When: Thu., Dec. 2, 7 p.m. 2010
Price: free
Undeterred by the waning calendar year, Watkins is closing the door on 2010 with a bang. Tonight the college continues its Artist Lecture Series with a presentation from writer, curator, architect and photographer Miwon Kwon, who is currently preparing an essay on the public projects of conceptual artist Barbara Kruger and co-curating a major historical exhibit for Los Angeles’ Museum of Contemporary Art in 2012. Also on tonight’s agenda, Tagged! A Graphic Design Senior Show, featuring work by soon-to-be-graduates Rachel Rodriguez and Sam Wasserman, opens before the lecture at the ICON building in the Gulch. Watkins’ graphic design program continues to impress us, and your trip to the lecture should include a stop to check out this exhibit. Tomorrow night, Friday, Dec. 3, photography major Brittany Smith will open her senior thesis show in the Brownlee O. Currey Jr. Gallery at Watkins. A Sober Moment is a series of color photographs documenting the lives of addicts in recovery.
