Hosts Tennessee Repertory Theatre and Nashville Children’s Theatre welcome Steven Dietz to Music City with this meet-and-greet for the playwright, who is serving as the Rep’s Ingram New Works Fellow for the 2011-12 season. In the recent past, both the Rep and NCT have successfully produced Dietz, including Yankee Tavern, Still Life With Iris and the musical Go, Dog. Go! — works indicative of a wide range and a penchant for creating accessible drama on contemporary issues. Another Nashville theater company, Actors Bridge Ensemble, also recently produced a well-received rendition of Dietz’s work — Becky’s New Car. Besides enjoying a staged reading of one of his works-in-progress at the Ingram New Works Festival in June, Dietz will be mentoring emerging local playwrights through the Ingram New Works Lab. Since 1983, Dietz’s many plays have been produced frequently in U.S. regional theaters, off-Broadway and internationally from England to Brazil to Japan. His awards are many, including the 2007 Edgar Award for Drama from the Mystery Writers of America for Sherlock Holmes: The Final Adventure. This event is free, and reservations are available by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org.
