An Evening With Oscar Arias

When: Thu., Feb. 27, 7 p.m. 2014
Oscar Arias was elected president of Costa Rica in 1986, subsequently calling upon leaders of Central America to ensure democracy and liberty for their people. He was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 1987 for his efforts in the Central American peace process, and used the funds from the Nobel monetary award to establish the Arias Foundation for Peace and Human Progress. His foundation continues to work toward just and peaceful societies and equality in Central America. This distinguished world leader will speak at Belmont University as part of the 2014 PeaceJam Mid-South Conference, a leadership conference open to 13-18-year-olds and their parents or teachers. But Arias’ 30-minute talk, which will be followed by a Q&A, is free and open to the public. 7 p.m. at The Curb Event Center at Belmont University ABBY WHITE
