We’re only a few months in, but I’m going to go ahead and call 2011 the year of hip-hop in Nashville: Chancellor Warhol beat out a tough group of indie rockers for a coveted slot at Bonnaroo, Yelawolf killed a performance at PhatKaps in Antioch, and Sam & Tre and Dee Goodz open for Raekwon later this month. Nevertheless, it’s been a hot minute since we’ve had a solid hip-hop showcase highlighting local MCs. Can we just pretend like the “Almost Too Good to Be True” show is an echo of The Holla? Because that’s what we’re going to do. Aside from Holla co-founder Spoken Nerd, the show also features Cream party alumni The Billy Goats, hip-hop/jazz fusion trio Get Got, blog-worthy DJ Quiet Entertainer and touring MC Manchild. Five bones gets you in the door.
