Allison Moorer Opening for Steve Earle at The Belcourt

Moorer of the Same

Moorer of the Same
Moorer once regularly enlivened local stages with deep-Alabama country soul while creating several of the best Music Row albums released just before and after the turn of the century. She even recorded a standout live album and DVD, Show, over a couple of unforgettable nights at 12th & Porter. But her opening performance for husband Steve Earle is only the second time she’s performed here since moving to New York in 2005. Her ties to Nashville remain strong: Her 2008 covers album Mockingbird was produced by hometown hero Buddy Miller, and she begins her next album here in September with Mississippi auteur R.S. Field, who produced three of Moorer’s previous albums. As always, she’ll show how much slow-burning emotion a great torch singer can infuse into a good tune.
