Alias Chamber Ensemble’s first album, 2011’s Hilos, was nominated for a Grammy. Next week, the ensemble officially releases its sophomore album, Boiling Point, featuring the music of American composer and violist Kenji Bunch. The disc’s title track is a rollicking fusion of classical music and rock that calls on the players to vamp looped patterns until an onstage teakettle comes to a boil. There’s no word on whether the kettle will make an appearance at Alias’ album release party. But Bunch will be at the event, along with renowned electric violinist Tracy Silverman.
