Kohrs is an ultra-busy (and ultra-talented) multi-tasker who’ll be taking a little break from his session playing and record-engineering gigs to hit the road with John Fogerty this summer. But before he heads out, he’s put together a nifty group of players for an exceedingly informal onstage jam session to highlight and raise money for Agape Animal Rescue (there’s a clever online contest on their website, participation in which gets you a discount on admission to the show). Longtime collaborators like drummer John McTigue and bassist Jay Weaver will be on hand, as will an assortment of colleagues and guests such as Jim Lauderdale (for whom Kohrs produced a Grammy-winning album), harmonica ace Buddy Greene and guitar monster Trevor Finlay. Both as singer and player, Kohrs is adept at bluegrass, blues, country and more, so the lack of rehearsal doesn’t mean that this bunch will fall back on just one tried-and-true line. Good music, good cause.
