Act Like a Grrrl Performance at Black Box

Girl Group

Girl Group
Founded in 2005, Actors Bridge producer Vali Forrister's spring/summer retreat program for girls ages 12-17 continues to draw in participants eager to explore their identity and exercise their burgeoning personal independence. Their conduit is a creatively driven regimen that stresses peer acceptance, self-discovery and mentorship, augmented by workshops in dance and other cultures led by guest artists. The four-week retreat culminates in these two shows, written and performed by the "grrrls" themselves. The 2009 cast numbers 14, and the performances pay tribute to ALAG's late founding member Cyan Scarpati, who died May 24.
Thu., July 2, 7:30 p.m.; Fri., July 3, 7:30 p.m., 2009
