Mike Williams is the winner of the 2006 “You Are So Nashville If…” contest. A fruitless participant for the past three years, Williams began assembling his quips in early July, a list that quickly grew to three pages. An exhibitor services representative for Freeman, a trade show contracting company, Williams ran his cracks through co-workers, whittling down his list (though readers will find that many of his entries made our Committee of Insiders’ final cut). “I find things that happen in this town strange,” he says. Williams attributes the winning entry to witty speculation following the release of the film Brokeback Mountain. “When it came out, there was all this hype, and I thought there’s probably a whole group of gay cowboys here—just nobody ever knew about them,” Williams says. The Johnson City native has lived in Donelson for six years with his wife and 11-year-old daughter.
